Home remedies for toenail fungus

Why do so many people use home remedies for toenail fungus instead of prescription or an over the counter medication?

Prescription and over the counter medications sometimes contain chemicals that can cause severe reactions. These types of medications can also have nasty side effects that in some rare cases can cause lasting damage to the body. That is not to say that any of these types of treatments will affect your health, but the risk of a negative reaction from a strong prescription drug is significantly more than when using natural remedies for toenail fungus.

Over the counter medications tend not to be as strong as the prescription treatments. However, they can still contain some very potent active ingredients, so make sure you understand exactly what the ingredients are and what side effects they can produce. If you don’t want to mix your own natural medication, there are also quite a few over the counter products for toenail fungus that are made of entirely natural ingredients, for your convenience we have listed these at the bottom of this page.

Even if you are only using natural ingredients as home remedies for toenail fungus, you could still have an allergic reaction. If you notice any type of reaction when using any of these treatments (prescription, over the counter or home remedy) stop taking the medication immediately and consult your healthcare provider.

You should also contact your healthcare provider if the medication you are taking is not improving the condition, or if the condition is getting worse. If the toenail fungus does get worse and takes hold it can be very difficult to get rid of.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should contact their healthcare provider before taking any kind of medication.
